FullsizeThis portion of the Kern River extends from the Lower Richbar picnic area to Hart Park. Although the Kern River is considered to be a navigable waterway, only a small portion can be safely used by rafters. This 20-mile stretch of the Kern offers a wide variety of fishing from nighttime catfishing to topwater smallmouth action. Lake Ming and Hart Park are just a few miles from Bakersfield along this lower portion and offer some fine picnicking, swimming, boating, and camping.
